Dewey Simms, a retired regional sales Director for Its Charlotte Pipe & Foundry Company and an enthusiastic writer, has completed his new novel, "Underneath the Green Canopy," an enthralling account that contains the story of a household's series of astounding events which reflect a lifetime of resilience and wisdom.
Simms writes,"'Underneath the Green Canopy' was motivated by a Real farmhouse built in Lincoln, North Carolina, someday around the late 1700s or early 1800s. All the events are based around Denver. The home is a magnificent looking house today.
"The publication is fictional with some real events, times, locations and figures. It is a clean read with most of the wording in an easily readable format. It will not challenge your mind with plenty of words.
"The White Oak Farm narrative will take you back five generations of this Stone family, beginning with the initial Thomas McCoy Stone from the late 1700s that made money to start his farm. He went on to be among the early United States senators that helped with the farming community throughout the nation.
"It talks about the farm, horse farming, slavery, Civil War, Milk Farming, gold rush, oil discovery, new technology of the day, World War I, Depression age, and touches World War II."
Published by Covenant Books of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, Dewey Simms's new book witnesses the Stone family members' lives since they were courageous through the trials of the age and develop a name for themselves by the humble beginnings of a simple farmhouse.
